Currant Exhibition: Slowness
Open till 21st November
Soup exhibition
Soup- the Tate staff collective are having a busy Biennial. The next show, which features Red Wire founding member Michael Aitken is in conjunction with The Education Deanary Arts Curriculum at The Gateway Building (Liverpool Hope University). The P.V is on Thurs 27th November and it goes on to 18th February.
A foundation
Brickface are launching a new publication at A Foundation, and to coincide, a number of bands and artists are there for one night only- which includes 5 films of Joshua Tennant eating. Unfortuntely its the same night as Slowness, so you'll have to make a choice
Slowness
The Times have placed Slowness 3rd in its top 5 exhibitions opening this week. This is a massive coup for us, and we hope you can trust them and us and come down on Friday at 6.30. There's a live performance link-up to Bangkok by Laura Cooper
A bit of banter
There has been a bit of a spate of critical banter regarding The Biennial and the Capital of Culture- not least our own NAN Tour last week. Joshua Tennant can be heard talking about these issues as part of the Portable Radio scheme which is a UK touring podcast to find out about art in 10 different venues. Joshua and Amy Goring can also be seen discussing the CoC in Tenantspin's recent Cultural Commentators, along with Hamish Mclain and Gabriel Stones (The Royal Standard), Jim Buso (NAN Scheme) John O Hare (Wolstenholme Projects) and Ian Jackson (artinliverpool.com)
NAN Tour and Fear Yourself pics
The Winner Takes it All? Tour was last weekend, which was Red Wire and The Royal Standard showing 35 artists round Liverpool to see whats going on with The Capital of Culture, and theres some pictures here. It resulted in a talk at Static. Also some Fear Yourself pictures are now on Daniels page.
SONGS IN THE KEY OF DANIEL JOHNSTON
To coincide with The Long Night of the Biennial Red Wire will be hosting a fantastic array of music and bands covering Daniel Johnston tracks. The 5 bands/ musicians playing are The Ice King of California, Hackney Carriages, A Cup of Tea, Man in the Dark and The Blind Rabbit Choir. The Event will be in our basement, and will, like the exhibition, be unmissable. If your doing some other thing on this night- really, will it be better than this?
NAN TOUR: THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL?
The Winner Takes It All? Panel discussion, Sunday 26th, 1.45 pm at Static, 23 Roscoe Lane, Liverpool L1 9JD.
From Friday, 25 artists will arrive in Liverpool to explore the Capital of Culture. Through their investigations and the experience of The Royal Standard and Red Wire we will discuss the opportunities and meaning the title has for artists. Many of the attending artists have links to other Capitals of Culture including Glasgow (1990) Vilnius (2009) and Istanbul (2010) and as such will make a valuable contribution to the debate.
To book a place at the discussion email info@the-royal-standard.com.
If you can't make it you can follow it online at

Fear Yourself
Fear Yourself opened on Friday to a great reception. The exhibition looks fabulous- its certainly the best thing we've done, and had changed our perception of what we can do. A couple of previews are available: one from Liverpool.com (I like "Red Wire has come up trumps again!") and a great write up from Mark Powell of The Metro
No Tickets
We're getting a few emails through about tickets, so this is just a note to say there's no tickets or P.V cards for the Daniel Johnston show- your welcome to come along (as long as your not a tramp or baghead or anything).
The Pitch
The second half of The Pitch, hosted by The Open Eye Gallery is reviewing the progress of the winners on October 7th. As you might remember Amy Goring was one of three artists publicly voted to win the £600 casah prize, and she will be presenting an update.
Some press
Fear Yourself is featured in the present issue of Liverpool.com magazine courtesy of Ian Jackson. Also, whilst reviewing Liverpool International Artists, Nick Holloway also gave kudos to Red Wirer Joshua Tennant's 'The Eating Series' in the Liverpool Metro.
Mike's in the Tate
Mike Aitken is always in the Tate because he works there, but now he is accompanied by his own work as part of the North by Northwest exhibition, which is also showing at Red Wire. Mike's 'Plan some plan over some plan' (last shown at the 5th house exhibition) can be seen in the Tate's hospitality room
Long night of the Biennial
Bands and musicians are queueing up to play at the Long Night of the Biennial- we are going to have a Daniel Johnston night, with musicians own interpretations of his tracks. Theres some names many of you will be familiar with currently being sought. With competition high on whats going on this night- we're confident this will be unmissable

All artists are welcome to submit to our next zine so if you have any talent in any disipline that can be photocopied in black and white, please email us, as after our last issue, which was more stacked than usual, we want more more more
